Ingredients

For the Chicken:

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts

4 slices of smoked ham

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for added crunch)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Oil for frying

For the Sliders:

12 slider buns

½ cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)

Lettuce leaves (optional, for freshness)

Pickles (optional, for tanginess)

Instructions

Prep the Chicken:

    - Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

      - Take each chicken breast and slice it horizontally to create thin cutlets, yielding about 4 cutlets per breast.

        - Cover each cutlet with plastic wrap and gently pound with a meat mallet to ensure they're evenly thinned to about ¼ inch in thickness.

          Assemble the Cordon Bleu:

            - Place one slice of smoked ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on top of each chicken cutlet.

              - Carefully roll the chicken tightly, starting from the edge with the ham and cheese, securing the end. Use toothpicks to hold the rolls together if needed.

                Coat the Chicken Rolls:

                  - Create a breading station: In one bowl, mix the flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In a second bowl, pour the beaten eggs, and in a third bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs.

                    - Begin by rolling each chicken roll in the seasoned flour, shaking off excess.

                      - Next, dip the roll into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat it thoroughly in panko breadcrumbs, gently pressing the breadcrumbs to adhere.

                        Fry the Chicken Rolls:

                          - In a large skillet, heat a generous amount of oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken rolls (working in batches to avoid overcrowding). Fry each side until they are golden brown and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes total.

                            - Once fried, transfer the rolls to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

                              Assemble the Sliders:

                                - In a small mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and honey (if using).

                                  - Cut the slider buns in half and spread a generous portion of the mayo mixture on both halves.

                                    - Place one fried chicken roll on the bottom half of each bun and top with lettuce and pickles, if desired.

                                      - Close the sliders with the top half of the bun.

                                        Bake (Optional):

                                          - For an extra touch of warmth and to help the cheese melt slightly, place the assembled sliders on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until heated through.

                                            Serve:

                                              - If you used toothpicks, remove them before serving. Present the sliders warm for the best enjoyment. Pair with sides such as fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
