8 oz (about 227g) whole wheat or gluten-free pasta spirals (fusilli works beautifully)

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini), halved

1 cup fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped, plus extra for garnish

1 medium cucumber, diced

1/2 cup ripe avocado, diced

1/4 cup kalamata olives, pitted and sliced

1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1 clove garlic, minced

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
