Ingredients

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened to room temperature

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional: sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning for added texture and flavor

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures the oven is ready for optimal baking.

Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, chopped fresh spinach, sharp cheddar cheese, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Use a spatula or a wooden spoon to mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated into a creamy mixture.

Roll Out the Dough: Carefully unroll both cans of crescent dough. On a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper, arrange the dough triangles in a circular pattern, slightly overlapping each triangle to form a ‘ring’ shape. Ensure that the wide ends of the triangles are facing outward while the pointed ends are aimed toward the center.

Add the Filling: Spoon the prepared chicken and spinach filling into the center of the crescent dough ring. Be sure to leave enough space at the outer edges of the dough, as you will need this area to fold the triangles over the top of the filling.

Fold the Dough: Starting from the pointed ends of each triangle, fold the dough over the filling. Tuck the points of the triangles underneath the ring to secure the shape and protect the filling.

Brush with Egg Wash: Take a pastry brush and generously apply the beaten egg over the surface of the dough. This will help achieve a beautiful golden-brown color when baked. For an extra kick, sprinkle sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning evenly across the top.

Bake: Carefully place the baking sheet into the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crescent ring is beautifully golden and cooked through.

Serve: Once baked, remove the crescent ring from the oven, allowing it to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet. Slice into wedges and serve warm as a delightful appetizer or main course that is sure to impress.
