Ingredients

4 cups of ripe watermelon, cubed (seeds removed)

1/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust based on the sweetness of the watermelon)

1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Prepare the Watermelon: Begin by cutting the watermelon into small cubes, ensuring it's fully ripe for optimal sweetness and flavor. Remove any seeds to enhance the texture of the sorbet.

Blend Ingredients: In a blender or food processor, combine the cubed watermelon, granulated sugar, fresh lime juice, and a pinch of sea salt. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides if necessary. Taste the mixture, and if it needs more sweetness, feel free to add extra sugar to taste.

Strain (Optional): If you prefer a velvety smooth texture, you can strain the blended sorbet through a fine-mesh sieve to eliminate any pulp. This step is entirely optional, as many people enjoy the natural texture of the watermelon in the sorbet.

Chill the Mixture: Once blended and strained (if desired), pour the mixture into a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Chilling the mixture helps it freeze more evenly and results in a smoother final product.

Churn the Sorbet: After chilling, transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to churn the sorbet until it reaches a soft-serve consistency, which typically takes about 20-25 minutes.

Freeze the Sorbet: Once churned, scoop the watermelon sorbet into an airtight container. Smooth the top with a spatula, seal the container tightly, and place it in the freezer. Allow it to freeze for at least 3 hours, or until the sorbet is firm all the way through.

Serve and Enjoy: When ready to serve, scoop the refreshing watermelon sorbet into bowls or cones. If desired, garnish with fresh mint leaves for an added touch of brightness. Enjoy the delightful and refreshing burst of watermelon goodness!
